DESCRIPTION
BeSound is a wellness imaging startup rethinking the breast screening experience through a softer, hospitality-driven approach to healthcare. Referencing both the history of breast imaging and emerging diagnostic technologies, the space was designed to feel emotionally grounding while still visually connected to innovation, education, and care. Environmental graphics, archival timelines, materials, lighting, and branded touchpoints work together to create a calm and immersive patient experience.
The project spans experiential concept development, spatial rendering, signage systems, environmental graphics, FF&E sourcing, vendor coordination, fabrication oversight, and installation support across the launch of the company’s first Los Angeles location. The work focused on translating the brand into physical form while balancing atmosphere, functionality, budget, and the realities of an active build-out process.
Currently, we are redefining the brand's voice and creative direction to feel more familiar, more welcoming, and less like traditional healthcare. Every decision is guided by a simple idea: put women first. The result is a brand that feels grounded, relatable, and genuinely there for women.

THE ARRIVAL – LA Flagship
The arrival sequence was designed to create a gradual shift from the energy of Melrose into a calmer and more private environment. Entering through the courtyard and frosted vinyl storefront, visitors move into a space shaped by softness, restraint, and intentional pacing.
Each detail contributes to the atmosphere, from the historical timeline integrated into the walls to the sculptural Ingo Maurer lighting fixture, whose crinkled Japanese paper softens the space and introduces a more human presence while still maintaining a clean and precise visual language.
THE PATIENT EXPERIENCE– LA Flagship
The patient journey was reimagined to feel more like hospitality than healthcare. A restrained material palette, integrated environmental graphics, and carefully placed artwork create moments of pause from arrival through the scan rooms. Historical breast imaging references and educational content become part of the architecture, balancing advanced technology with warmth, comfort, and emotional reassurance.
VISUAL LANGUAGE – LA Flagship
The visual language for the space was shaped by both the history and future of breast imaging. Archival mammography imagery, early diagnostic technologies, sonograms, and abstracted body forms informed a system of environmental graphics and integrated artwork embedded throughout the environment.
Material choices follow the same dialogue between past and future. Chrome surfaces reference historical medical instruments and emerging technologies, while warm woods, soft textiles, and organic forms soften the clinical experience and create a more emotionally grounded atmosphere. Together, these elements acknowledge the women, technologies, and histories that made contemporary imaging possible while imagining a softer future for care.

ARTWORK & ENVIRONMENTAL GRAPHICS – LA Flagship
Artwork created for the environment draws from sonograms, archival imaging, body contours, and organic material studies to develop a softer and more immersive visual atmosphere. The resulting system was integrated throughout the space to support both education and emotional comfort within the patient experience.
